Yes. Curses are not uncommon. Though they are usually not so stubborn as the ones that have been described by the riftfarers who have brought them with them.

However, this world has many more curses and magics than most have experience with. The curses are vast and varied. Many can only be allowed time to 'run it's course'. Others must be cured in a specific way, but there are means and methods to 'manage' the symptoms that fend them off in a manner that is different than the worlds the riftfarers come from. As such, there may be ways and means to manage the curses that riftarers bring with them that were not and could not be done in their worlds. If given time and effort, possibly even a manner of blocking them entirely, if a cure is not possible.
