We arent from the same world and I know she wants to go back to hers one day. Shes got a life there. And me? I dont really know what I wanna do.

Im happy here. Back home I didnt have the best life.

Either way im sure we will. Im happy I get to spend whatever time I have with her.

[Darin doesn’t take it as teasing at all. Somehow, he can tell Beat is a really nice guy. Which is probably why it’s so easy to share as much as he is.]

[Beat has no idea what this guy means about being a pain in the ass at all. Hell, they might even be good friends after this.]

[A few days later, Beat drops by the forge, ready to get to work on the gift. It had been a mix of excitement and some nervousness leading up to this day, looking forward to trying something new but not wanting to mess it up either. It reminded him of being back at school, if he's being honest.

Regardless, he walks in with a smile on his face, immediately feeling the heat of the forge when he steps in. It's only then he realizes that he doesn't actually know how Darin looks like as he scans the people at the establishment. But that wasn't going to stop him.

Walking to the nearest person, he raises a hand in greeting and to catch their attention.]

Yo! Is Darin around? Told me to meet 'im here.

[Working at the forge proper is tall, broad man. He's 6'3" with spiky, deep blue hair, and incredibly muscular. He stands at the anvil, pounding away as sparks fly and he's not even wearing an apron which...well, he probably should. He's only wearing a thin, sleeveless black shirt that hugs his frame. Protective gear? Not for Darin. In this forge, burning your eyebrows off is a rite of passage. Mostly because he can grow them back faster than most thanks to his superhuman body.]

[When he hears his name, Darin looks up. He sets what he's working on aside and walks over.]

Yo! I'm Darin! And...lemme guess. You Beat?

[Darin can't remember many people he told to meet him specifically at the forge, but somehow the 'yo' seemed to fit the typing style of their messages.]

Nice timing! I was just finishing up what I was working on!

[Finally seeing this guy in-person, Beat couldn't help but let out a low whistle. Even if this was his first time walking into a forge, he could tell right off the bat that this guy was pretty hardcore. From this physique to how he carried himself and dressed as he did his work, he's made quite the first impression.]

Yeah, that's me, yo. Ready to do some bone huntin' an' carvin'. Good to finally meet ya.

[Instead of a handshake or a bow, he extends his arm, hand balled up into a fist for him to bump.]

[Darin laughs and baps his fist against Beat's with a confident grin.]

Boy, am I ever! You came at the right time, I actually thought of a really great place to get some bones!

You been to Nogard? The island with the dragon skeleton? I bet we can find something really good there!

[Wait a minute. Darin's right. There's an entire skeleton there, why didn't he think of that either?]

Damn, you's right! If that place got a whole dragon on it, then it's gotta have other bones, too. [Beat, it doesn't work that way...] Nice thinkin' yo! We stickin' to the beach to find some whale bones?

Not unless you want to see if we can get a dragon's tooth or something. The gift's for your significant other so what do you think? What would they like more? Whale bone or dragon bone?

I think whale's gonna be good, leas' for now. If we do aight with it, maybe I can try it again with dragon bones next time.

[Someone sure is confident that there will be a next time. Just talking about it is getting him more pumped to find what they need and get started.]

Honestly, that's probably for the best. I haven't had the opportunity to work with dragon bone yet and I've seen plenty of scrimshaw done with whale bone.

[Darin leaves his tools and straps his dao across his back. Then flips the sign to the forge to 'CLOSED' before leading Beat out.]

So, if you don't mind my asking, what happened to warrant this? How'd you mess up?
